The Art Walk led by Mrs. Cannon-Hicks on October 8, 2024, provided an opportunity for high school art students to experience various forms of art in Columbia College and downtown Columbia. The tour began at the art building, Brown Hall, where students interacted with teachers and college students to gain insight into the diverse art programs offered at the college, including jewelry making, photography, and still life. The Greg Hardwich Gallery showcased the works of Elise Rugolo, offering students a chance to appreciate and analyze contemporary art. As the Art Walk continued through downtown Columbia, students encountered a wide array of art forms, such as mosaics, sculptures, graffiti, and other visual displays. The day concluded at the "Kindness Butterflies" installation by Madeleine LeMieux, Aveen Gadban, Ember Pierson, and Amani Poindexter, providing students with a memorable and inspiring experience.

Visiting a college campus for the first time can be an exciting and eye-opening experience. For Ethen Orick, it was an opportunity to explore the world of higher education and appreciate the beauty of art. The various art pieces on display, particularly those by Elise Rugolo, left a lasting impression on Ethen. The visit also provided the chance to take photographs and capture the essence of the college and downtown area. Overall, the experience was enriching and gave Ethen a glimpse into the possibilities that college life can offer. This first-hand exposure to the college environment may have sparked an interest in pursuing higher education in the future.
