Holiday Season at Silver Dollar City

Article on the Holiday Season at Silver Dollar City including photos.

Students made the trek south to Silver Dollar City for their “Old Time Christmas” celebration. The park has nearly 30 rides, such as the Outlaw Run, The Giant Barn Swing, and Wildfire. It also has many historical displays, showing what life in the 1900s was like, with their one room schoolhouse, McHaffie’s homestead, and more. To go along with the lessons on history, there are many crafts men and women showing how things were made such as glass blowing, candle making, and blacksmithing.

The park was decorated to the hilt with Christmas ornamentation, lights, and an elaborate parade after dark, with floats covered in intricate lighting and an appearance by Santa himself!

This was truly a highlight trip for many of the students as they had never been to a theme park and never ridden on a rollercoaster of any kind. Silver Dollar City truly makes for a wonderful adventure and one the students will cherish for many years to come!
