MSD students embarked on a truly immersive and transformative journey at Love Coffee in Columbia, MO, where they discovered their own potential to make a real difference in the community. By diving into the heart of a thriving coffee house, they uncovered the secrets of the coffee-making process and discovered their own hidden talents. From crafting delectable meals to mastering the art of coffee-making, they unleashed their creativity and savored the fruits of their labor over a well-deserved lunch, surrounded by the vibrant atmosphere of the coffee shop. They learned about the rich history of Love Coffee, which was founded in 2019 and has continued to grow exponentially, adding an impressive store expansion and two convenient kiosks to its repertoire. In February 2020, a milestone was reached when individuals with disabilities were inducted into Love Coffee’s charter Employee team, marking a significant step towards inclusivity and diversity. They were impressed by Love Coffee’s commitment to providing a Path to Purpose training program, which consists of a comprehensive four-part track: Initial Assessment, Initial Transition, Secondary Transition, and Job Search & Placement. This program not only provides training and employment opportunities for those with disabilities but also offers valuable work experience classes for public schools, job point, Woodhaven, and Boone County Family Resources, empowering individuals to reach their full potential.
