MSD upper classmen participated in the Callaway Chamber of Commerce's Manufacturing Day, commencing with a visit to nVent, a leading global provider of electrical connection and protection solutions. Noted for their electrical enclosures, fastening solutions, thermal management, and cutting-edge liquid cooling solutions for AI and high-performance computing, the students were impressed by the diverse range of roles involved in crafting each enclosure and nVent's meticulous attention to detail. A highlight of the tour was encountering an MSD Alumna, which added a personal touch to the experience.
Next we toured Fulton's Dollar General Distribution Center, a state-of-the-art facility serving over 100 stores. Students were impressed by the massive scale of operations and the remarkable efficiency of the logistics systems. The center's commitment to productivity and safety was evident throughout the tour, culminating in an encounter with Marshall McSafety and a group photo to capture the memorable experience.
MSD's third stop of the day was a visit to Walsworth Publishing, a family-owned business that specializes in producing high-quality books, catalogs, magazines, and yearbooks. The majority of our students, having taken graphic communication classes or yearbook, were thrilled to observe familiar machines and processes on a larger scale. We were delighted to have Jonathan Spencer, an MSD alumnus, as our tour guide, who provided an informative and engaging tour. The students were impressed by the facility's capabilities and wished they had access to similar machinery in their own classroom.
Our last stop of the day was at Danuser Machine Company, a leading manufacturer of heavy machinery and agricultural tools located near our campus. Students were given a comprehensive tour of the facility, showcasing the company's global reach and diverse product offerings. They were inspired by the vast range of career opportunities available to them in their local community upon graduation.
