EMBRACING TECHNOLOGY AND FORGING NEW CONNECTIONS
MSD hosted the St. Louis robotics team, the X BOTS, in November for a day dedicated to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education. The team, which competes in FIRST Robotics competitions, shared their passion for robotics with the students.
They organized four engaging activities for the students to participate in. These activities included driving the team's robot, Stella, making tin foil boats and testing their weight-bearing capacity, creating and programming robots, and using ink to propel boats across the water. The X BOTS also shared an inspiring story titled Rusty: The Brushstroke Bot, which they had written and illustrated. Throughout the day, students were divided into groups and had the opportunity to rotate through each of the activities, gaining hands-on experience and exposure to various aspects of STEM education in a fun and interactive manner. This event provided students with an opportunity to explore and learn about the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math in a practical and engaging way.
Lego offers a diverse selection of robotics kits, and the FIRST LEGO League provides teams with the opportunity to engage in competitive challenges. The competition consists of three components: the Robot Game, the Innovation Project, and the FIRST Core Values, offering a well-rounded experience for participants.
"Rusty: The Brushstroke Bot" is a heartwarming story about a unique robot named Rusty. Authored and illustrated by the X Bots team, it teaches important lessons about overcoming challenges and embracing individuality.
